A really well-organised private day. Picked up at our hotel at seven in the morning, sorted out the skis and the lift pass without us having to queue anywhere, and we were on the first lift up at Masella by ten. The guide knew exactly which sector would still have the morning sun. Easy, no stress, exactly what we wanted on a short Barcelona trip.
We did the Grandvalira day with our two teenagers. Long day — up at six, back at seven in the evening — but totally worth it. The snow in Andorra was better than anything we expected to find this close to the coast, and the kids had never crossed a border by car. Our driver was patient with the equipment rental and gave us a good brief on where to ski at each sector.
As a Canadian I was sceptical about the snow quality so close to the Mediterranean. La Molina surprised me — a proper 900 vertical metres, well-groomed pistes and the morning conditions were excellent. Easy private transfer, no messing about with buses, back in Barcelona in time for dinner at Boqueria. Would recommend to anyone passing through in winter.
We were only in Barcelona for four days and squeezed this in on a whim. Private minivan from our hotel at Plaça Catalunya, coffee and a bakery stop on the way up, and we were skiing by half past ten. Masella has long, confidence-building blues that suited us both — Rob is a strong intermediate, I'm more cautious. The team spoke great English and were flexible about when we wanted to finish.
Not a ski tour — but we wanted a reason to drive into the mountains on a short winter break. Three countries in a day sounds silly on paper, but the Pyrenees are genuinely beautiful under snow and the two mountain passes are worth the drive on their own. Our guide stopped often for photographs and knew a lovely village restaurant on the French side.
Honest about selection
We pick reviews for this page that are specific — the ones that mention the resort, the drive, the guide, the lunch. Short "it was great!" ratings get filtered out not because they aren't welcome, but because they aren't informative. If you'd like to speak to a past customer directly, we can usually arrange that on request — a small number of previous clients have agreed to answer questions by email.
